The best way to say "G'day" to Australia's native animals is to visit Sydney Wildlife Zoo, featuring over 1 kilometer of glass-enclosed walkways, making it the world's largest indoor wildlife park. Here you'll find all of Australia's star animals you can imagine, with animal feeding and shows throughout the day. You can have close encounters with cuddly koalas and adorably silly kangaroos.

The Wildlife Zoo and Madame Tussauds share the same entrance area - just turn left for one and right for the other. Each exhibit section is like its own mini ecosystem, though most visitors come mainly for the koalas and kangaroos. Note that you can't hold koalas here - you can only take photos with them. If you're keen on holding a koala, I'd recommend doing some research first. If I remember correctly, you can do this in Gold Coast and Brisbane for around AUD 20.

The butterflies in the garden are incredibly friendly - they'll even land on your hand! We got lucky with our timing - all 7-8 koalas in the enclosure were feeding when we visited, and one was particularly energetic, hopping around playfully. While you can pay for a photo opportunity with the koalas, remember that holding them isn't allowed here.
