Christmas Parade in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

November 19th was not only my birthday, but it also happened to be the day of Hobart’s Christmas Parade. So, I got up early, got ready, and headed downtown to enjoy this summery Christmas celebration. Let’s start with some photos :) The highlight of the parade had to be all the adorable little blonde, blue-eyed kids! The parade hadn’t started yet, so everyone was waiting around, and some of the children were amusing themselves while they waited. So cute!

The parade began with policemen and policewomen in plaid kilts leading the way.

And finally, the main star of the show made his grand entrance after all the anticipation! Not easy to get him, haha!

Christmas is traditionally a snowy holiday, but in Australia it’s celebrated in the heat of summer. Even without the white snowflakes, the festive spirit is just as strong (with all the shops offering a huge range of Christmas gifts and everyone out shopping for family and friends). If you’re used to celebrating Christmas bundled up in coats, spending it in a summer dress is a totally different experience! I hope anyone coming to Australia gets the chance to experience a summertime Christmas in person :)
