Location
Art Gallery Rd, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia
The Art Gallery of NSW is located in the southeast corner of the Botanic Gardens - worth checking out while you're there. During our visit, they were featuring an exhibition of John Russell, an Australian Impressionist painter, on the second floor. This was a ticketed exhibition costing $20 per person, with tickets available on their official website. The rest of the gallery is free to visit.
Interestingly, on level B2, there was a "Space Makers Room Shakers" themed exhibition. One fascinating piece was "Atomic: full of love, full of wonder" (2005). The entire room was filled with colorful balls suspended on transparent threads, with powerful fans creating subtle movements, producing an intriguing visual effect. The artist, Nike Savvas, an Australian living in London, created this vibrant piece while feeling homesick, representing Australia's colors and warmth.
Another multi-sensory installation, "Just like drops in time, nothing" (2002) by Ernesto Neto, occupied an entire room. Upon entering, you're greeted by a curry-ginger-like aroma. The elastic white fabric contained various spices including cloves, turmeric, fennel, chili powder, black pepper, and fenugreek (genugreek in the original text).
