Where Sea Meets Sky: Crystal Clear Waters (Melbourne's Coastal Impressions)

I used to frequently visit the beach - whether I was in a good mood or feeling down. Sometimes I'd even catch a tram to the beach during a short break between classes, coffee in hand. At the final stop, the salty sea breeze would greet me. Just sitting on the sand, watching the horizon where sky meets water, occasionally spotting ship masts slowly emerging - it brought an inexplicable joy. Melbourne has four main beaches: St Kilda Beach, Williamstown Beach, Frankston Beach and Mornington Beach. St Kilda is the most famous and bustling with crowds. However, it's widely considered the least clean of the four, with the strongest fishy smell and coarse sand that makes barefoot walking uncomfortable.

Williamstown Beach is spacious but less crowded - at least during my visits. It's my favorite, not just because it's close - only a 20-minute light rail ride away. The best part is its crystal-clear waters, brilliantly blue to the core.

Williamstown Beach

I don't have strong impressions of Frankston Beach - we walked through it quite quickly. During our only visit, half the beach was under maintenance with dark substances and an unpleasant smell. The water might have been contaminated.

Mornington Beach is clean and beautiful, with soft sand and scenery even more stunning than Williamstown. It's just further away - we drove there with friends. From the hilltop, the fog was still heavy and the sun hadn't fully emerged.

By the time we descended, the sun was shining brightly

P.S. In the following two years, I rarely visited the beach as busyness occupied most of our time. Now, looking through these photos, I miss the cool, ticklish feeling of waves washing over my feet...
