The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a single-arch bridge that was once acclaimed as the world's largest single-span arch bridge and remains one of Sydney's earliest iconic structures. From its initial design in 1857 to its completion in 1932, it serves as a crucial link between the harbor's northern and southern shores.

Construction began with the bridge's foundation in 1924, and it opened to traffic on March 19, 1932, taking over 8 years to complete. The bridge's construction used impressive quantities of materials: 52,800 tonnes of steel, 6 million rivets (with the largest weighing 3.5 kilograms), 95,000 cubic meters of cement, and 17,000 cubic meters of granite for the pylons and piers. It required 272,000 liters of paint. These numbers demonstrate the massive scale of this engineering feat. Building such a bridge over open water in the 1930s was a rare and remarkable achievement.
