The Gold Coast
Suddenly remembered I still have some photos from last September's spring break trip to Sydney and the Gold Coast. Let me share them. I'll skip Sydney since we were only there for a day and a half and didn't do much - definitely need to go back sometime.
It rained for two days during our visit, and the sun only came out on the morning we were leaving - perfect timing for us to splash in the waves
We arrived in the evening, and heard the other two friends would arrive an hour later, so after settling in we went out to find food
But we ran into them at the street corner anyway... guess we were just too slow
Found a quiet restaurant in the city center for dinner
The next morning we went to Sea World
That thing by the road - I don't know what it's called but someone painted on it. It's like a huge metal box... probably related to power generation?
At a hotel entrance - looks pretty awesome...
The famous amphibious vehicle - we didn't ride it
Sesame Street! My favorite!
In the evening we joined a tour to see the glow worm caves. I secretly took this photo... it wasn't actually allowed... I was naughty, please don't copy! We also saw the Southern Cross, but the weather wasn't great so we couldn't see much...
Another day, this time at Movie World, Warner Bros. Movie World
The 4D movie wasn't as "surprising" as the one I saw at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum
Looking back, this old wallet looks so clean... (actually it was super dirty...)
What are you looking at, kid?
Well... they went for the challenge, I was in charge of capturing the moments. These kinds of rides are old news to me - I always stay calm with a slight smile, not very exciting
Oh? What a coincidence running into these two friends!
This is a shot of that moment just before the big drop...
What are they photographing?
Such a bunch of crazy kids!
That night we celebrated Ms. Ke's birthday at the Gold Coast's revolving restaurant. The value for money was really poor
Last day! What a relief to finally see the sun!
The other two friends still had a week ahead of them to enjoy blue skies, white beaches, and fine wine. But we had to catch our afternoon flight back to Melbourne. Looking at these photos now brings such joy - there's really nothing better than summer days at the beach, carelessly soaking up the intense sunshine, feet in the soft sand, occasionally dipped in seawater. Can't wait for winter break so I can head back to the Northern Hemisphere for some warmth...
