The Sydney Fish Market is known as the largest combined wholesale, retail, and dining fish market in the Southern Hemisphere! We didn't do much research beforehand, but we almost immediately chose Peter's, one of the market's main vendors - probably because the smiling bearded uncle statue at the entrance was too eye-catching!
The store displayed all kinds of seafood: live crabs, crayfish, cod, red snapper, baby octopus, oysters, mussels, clams... there was so much to see, it felt like browsing through a marine life encyclopedia! My partner personally selected the ingredients and cooking methods - we had half the oysters and crayfish baked and half raw, along with fresh, tender sashimi and crispy soft-shell crab. The crayfish and crispy soft-shell crab were our favorites - simply delicious!
