MoretonIsland
When I was studying in Brisbane, I often came across travel promotions, with prices much lower than usual. This time, I visited Moreton Island, which is a nearby island—getting there by boat takes just over half an hour. You can bring your own food to the island, and you can cook in your accommodation.
Early in the morning, the city was so quiet it felt deserted. Only when I saw a CityCat moving in the distance did I feel the presence of the city.
The boat cruise first has to go along the Brisbane River before heading out to the open sea.
The interior of the boat is quite simple.
During the trip, the crew gave us a safety briefing on how to use the life jackets, which was pretty much the same as what you hear on a plane.
When the water birds saw people coming ashore, they gathered around us.
They were not afraid of humans and came quite close.

This is the boat we took.
The island is lined with townhouses—ours was the one in the middle.
By coincidence, we happened to see a couple getting married.
There’s a place on the island similar to a marine museum, displaying many fishing tools once used by the local indigenous people.
It also has educational exhibits about different kinds of fish.
The villa was fully equipped with tableware, so we cooked a delicious dinner ourselves.
Snorkeling was really fun—even if you can’t swim, the seawater keeps you afloat.
