FeiFeiAn Travels the World — Brisbane
The flight from Cairns to Brisbane takes about 2 hours.
Brisbane is Australia’s third-largest city, the nation’s largest seaport, capital of Queensland, and a major industrial and commercial hub. Located on both banks of the lower Brisbane River, the city center is 25 kilometers from the river mouth. Qantas’ Cadbury hot chocolate is amazing! I order it every time.
Once you go abroad, cities all feel kind of similar—so much space, so few people, and the air is so fresh. I really love the feeling of walking down a street without many people. If I want to walk straight, I walk straight; backwards, I walk backwards; I can even walk in circles if I want.
Little fish leaping skyward
Ever since I tried an Aussie ferris wheel two years ago, I’ve paid close attention—these ferris wheels spin so fast, just watching from below makes me dizzy.
This sky and these clouds are etched in my memory. Back in my hometown, I’ll never see a sky like this again.

Look, a plane just flew by.
Hope Island’s luxury residential area—many shops are closed, the marina is filled with all kinds of yachts.

Currumbin Bird Sanctuary
Koalas—these guys sleep 18 hours a day. Last time I didn’t get a photo, but this time I did. For 20 AUD, you strike the pose as instructed, then they put the koala in your arms. Face to face with the koala, its bottom sits on your hand, and its two claws clutch your clothes—the claws are sharp! Luckily I wore a thick long-sleeve jacket so it didn’t hurt. When taking a photo with a koala, you have to move slowly—hug gently and move slowly. If you go too fast, they get nervous! The one I held was a male and a bit heavy—your arms get sore if you hold him too long. Each koala only “works” for 15 minutes, then it goes back to eating eucalyptus or napping, and another koala comes out for photos. They’re total pros—so skilled, haha!
I’ve seen kangaroos before, but never one posing like this—showing off those long legs!
They’re not afraid of visitors at all, and won’t even stand up to eat—they know tourists will bring food right to their mouths. So lazy, some are sprawled out, some are piled together, all so cozy.
Pregnant kangaroo mum—see the baby kangaroo’s little paw? It’s red!

After circling the bird park, I went back to see the koalas—so synchronized, all asleep together, eating eucalyptus together, napping together. So amusing!
South Bank Parklands
Passing by a restaurant, a lady proudly pointed under the table—there was a lizard with a super long tail. Reminds me: I used to keep a green lizard in college, loved bringing it on the bus—he’d crawl onto my shoulder, then to my back or belly. If startled, he’d dart around. Once the lizard moved, people near me would scatter, and I never felt crowded again! Sadly, he stopped eating and starved...
