Brisbane — Australia Trip (3)
Brisbane—what comes to mind?
The Gold Coast, little penguins… haha, all correct!
I’ve been to Brisbane twice, both on business with a tight schedule, so I missed the penguins. Hope you all have a great time if you go!
I joined a local one-day bus tour for AUD 35 per person. The driver doubled as the guide—super nice—driving and introducing sights along the way, stopping at each spot to take us around.
Personally, I recommend planning your own route—it’s much cheaper. A full-day pass is about AUD 10 and covers buses and ferries.
Let’s go!

Set off!
This is the city sightseeing bus—City Sights. If you want to linger longer at a stop, check the timetable on this sign for the next buses.

The driver took us up to the city observatory for a panoramic view of Brisbane.

There’s also a café at the observatory—coffee with a view, what’s not to love?
Brisbane’s public transport even includes ferries!

Both sides of the inlet are lined with private homes, with dedicated yacht parking. So jealous!

Across the water you’ll find modern architecture—office towers and commercial buildings.

An evening seascape for you.
Over the water is a small town that’s lovely for a stroll. August is winter in Brisbane, but as long as the sun’s out, it’s nice and warm.

In town we wandered a bit and found a spot nearby—two 12-inch pizzas. Haha!

It’s pitch-black—blame the camera—but this is actually a Ferris wheel. Supposedly one of the tallest. AUD 15 per person!
On my second trip I finally made it to the famous Gold Coast. It was developed early and is more about the name compared with other parts of Australia. Personally I prefer quieter beaches, like Perth’s. But hey—if you have the chance, go. Better to go and maybe regret it than not go and wonder “what if.”
The Gold Coast isn’t in the city. Take a train—it’s quick and convenient. I did a day trip. After the train, transfer to a bus—the stop is right outside the station. If unsure, just ask around. I asked my way the whole time—follow your nose and you’ll get there. About a 30-minute ride on bus 709, then a short walk. You can also join a local tour and skip the logistics. I just prefer going solo.
Enjoy!
Sunshine Coast
I went in winter, so it wasn’t beach weather. In peak season the shore is packed with bikinis.

Heading back—snapped a few shots while waiting for the bus.
