Bondi Beach, a local favorite, is completely free and open to the public. The beach was absolutely packed with people. Since it was an Australian holiday, the beach was full of locals enjoying their time off.
The fine, soft sand and blue-green waters pair perfectly with colorful ice cream at Bondi.
The strong waves here aren't ideal for swimming, so most people either surf or sunbathe on the beach.
Along this expansive stretch of coastline, we lounged in the sun while watching for skilled surfers. It was entertaining to see them paddle out to catch waves, get swallowed by the surf, wipe out, and enthusiastically get back up for more.
The beach was also dotted with fit guys playing beach soccer. I really admire these foreigners - the beach is intensely sunny and incredibly windy!
