The Blue Mountains got their name from the vast number of eucalyptus trees (the ones koalas eat) that cover the mountains. These trees release oils that create a blue haze when viewed from a distance, hence the name "Blue Mountains."
Since the Blue Mountains are quite far from Sydney's city center, we decisively booked a day tour and reported early morning in Chinatown.
However, for Chinese visitors like us who have seen the magnificent mountains of our homeland, the Blue Mountains seemed rather ordinary... Not particularly spectacular, certainly not comparable to Zhangjiajie.
I must especially criticize one of the attractions - the Golden Waterfall Circuit. Honestly, it's just a small stream coming down from the mountain, almost dried up. I was like "?????"
We also wandered around what I suppose was a nearby town, but didn't find anything particularly worth visiting. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it.
