The Blue Mountains, located 65 kilometers west of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia, is a famous tourist destination in the state. The name "Blue Mountains" refers to a series of plateaus and mountain ranges. The name comes from the blue haze formed by oil droplets released from the numerous eucalyptus trees growing in the area.

Near Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, there are many unique rock formations, including natural attractions such as the Three Sisters, Jenolan Caves, Wentworth Falls, and the Orphan Rock. The area is also famous for its rich Aboriginal cultural heritage.

In 2000, the Greater Blue Mountains Area, which includes parts of the Blue Mountains range and surrounding regions, was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
