Skinny Dipping at the Gold Coast

This is the world-famous Gold Coast. The sand on Australian beaches looks almost factory-processed—so uniform, golden with no mud or gravel. The strong winds from the eastern Pacific blow in, and the waves are powerful. It was early spring, so by the sea it felt a bit chilly, and there weren’t many people relaxing. At this time, Sydney’s beaches are already packed!

By the water, not many people were swimming, but lots were sunbathing. The plus-sized, fit ladies were definitely a sight to see!

There are no changing rooms or shower facilities at the beach—just a shower head on a wooden post, so people rinse off right in the open.

When tour groups arrive, the first thing people ask the guide is, “What’s there at the Gold Coast?” The guide replies, “A beach.” Then they ask, “Is there a big mall nearby?” The guide says, “There’s one across the road, with lots of lanolin cream!” So everyone decides to visit the mall first, and finally go to the beach for a quick photo. As for me, I headed to the beach alone!

I especially love water—this is the Gold Coast, after all! How could I miss it? Luckily my underwear looked like swim trunks, so I went for a dip.

After coming ashore and rinsing off, I sat on a bench by the shore, basking in the sun and sea breeze. Even though I only had two hours, it felt truly relaxing. The only hassle: my underwear was cotton and wouldn’t dry, so I couldn’t put my pants back on. Then I remembered—nudity is legal in Australia, so why not just go with the local way? So, I stripped off my underwear and put on my jeans. Nobody seemed to care, and I didn’t care either!
